Our first CD features a rarity: the Sonata for Viola and Piano in E flat major by Jan K\u0159titel Va\u0148hal (1739\u20131813), who is regarded as the \u2018Czech Mozart\u2019. Alongside Schubert\u2019s famous Arpeggione Sonata, this album features Mozart\u2019s Violin Sonata in C major, K. 296, and a selection of small masterpieces such as Saint-Sa\u00ebns\u2019s The Swan, Rum\u00e4nisch by Jo Kn\u00fcmann, Vittorio Monti\u2019s Cs\u00e1rd\u00e1s and the Hungarian Dance No. 5. by Brahms.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Our second CD features three magnificent sonatas: Beethoven\u2019s Violin Sonata in G major, Op. 30\/3; Schubert\u2019s Violin Sonata in G minor, D 408; and Gaetano Brunetti\u2019s (1744\u20131798) Sonata for Viola and Piano in D major \u2013 a rarity. It also includes pieces by Grigora\u0219 Dinicu (1889\u20131949), Max Bruch and John Williams, wich are closely linked thematically: Dinicu, as a Romani, was a musician and composer persecuted during the Nazi era; Williams composed a moving score for the film Schindler\u2019s List; and Bruch transformed one of the most important prayers of the Jewish faith into a musical work of art. Massenet and Verdi were great opera composers. Instrumental music only came into being through opera; it first learnt to sing in the school of opera. This \u2018singing\u2019 through the instrument \u2013 which requires no words yet is capable of saying more without them, because no text predetermines the meaning \u2013 can be found in the \u2018M\u00e9ditation\u2019 from the opera Tha\u00efs and in \u2018La Seduzione\u2018, but also in the slow movement of Brunetti\u2019s Sonata for Viola and Piano \u2013 a wistful aria \u2013 and in the second movement of Schubert\u2019s Sonata for Violin and Piano in G minor \u2013 a song without words \u2013 as well as in the slow movement of Beethoven\u2019s Sonata in G major, Op. 30\/3.
