About our programs

Their concerts feature the music of great well-known composers, but also include many unknown treasures from the vast repertoire for violin/viola and piano, for example, the sonata for viola and piano by the „Czech Mozart” Jan Křtitel Vaňhal (1739–1813) or the viola sonata by the Italian composer Gaetano Brunetti (1744–1798). Brunetti, not to be confused with Commissario Brunetti from Donna Leon's crime novels, was the king's violin teacher, music master and director of the royal orchestra at the Spanish royal court from 1767 under Carlos III and later under Carlos IV. In their programs, Christoph Goldstein and Johannes Beham always combine great sonatas and small masterpieces such as „Salut d'Amour” by Elgar, „The Swan” by Saint-Saëns, Spanish Dances by Sarasate, Mazurkas by Wieniawski etc. Unknown pieces such as the „Serenade” by Robert Dauber or „Romanian” by Jo Knümann are particularly close to their hearts. They often arrange pieces for their instruments, such as „In Moonlight” by Elgar or „La Seduzione” by Verdi. A particular speciality are concerts für violin, piano and Orchestra. With various orchestras they performed e.g. the Concerto for violin, piano and Orchestra D-Major KV 315f by W. A. Mozart.
